Abandoned Newborn Found in Paro's Khangkhu Area

In a heart-wrenching incident, an abandoned newborn baby was discovered by a 23-year-old man in the Khangkhu area of Paro. The discovery took place on the night of August 26th, when the young man heard the desperate cries of the baby as he was about to sleep. Prompted by his instinct, he rushed to investigate and was shocked to find a baby wrapped in a worn-out blanket near his house.
The man, a nursing graduate, noticed that the baby was cold and that the umbilical cord had not been cut properly. Concerned for the baby's well-being, he immediately contacted the local authorities, who swiftly arrived at the scene. The baby was then taken to the hospital for a thorough medical examination, which thankfully revealed that the infant was in good health. The hospital staff also administered the baby's first immunization.

Moved by compassion, the man and his parents made the decision to keep the abandoned baby as their own. Presently, they are in the process of completing the necessary formalities to legally adopt the child, ensuring a loving and caring environment for their newfound family member.

Meanwhile, it is important to highlight that abandonment of an infant or child is considered a criminal offense. Those responsible for such acts can be charged with homicide if their actions lead to the death of the abandoned infant or child.
